Originally this piece started out as a relaxation piece, designed to put the listener into an almost trance-like state. My beloved dog of 14 years suddenly became very sick while I was in the middle of writing this piece, and it turned my entire mood, and the piece around immediately. Shortly after her death in April of 08, the piece was completed.
The piece contains a poem to be read during the ending of the piece and is also accompanied by the ensembles voices on the syllable: ooh, forming warm chords to enhance the text.
The piano part written in this piece is very personal and extremely important. Even in the chordal structure, it carries important elements that pertain to the piece and must be balanced well, as the piece was written using the piano as the main structure.
